Flying Heritage Collection's Il-2 Shturmovik

On February 10 mechanics at the Flying Heritage Collection reassembled their Il-2 Shturmovik at the Paine Field hangar. This Russian ground attack aircraft was damaged by anti-aircraft fire and crashed on a frozen lake on the Kola Peninsula in 1944. Discovered in the lake in 1991, the airplane was restored by Retro Avia Tech, Ltd. and flown in September 2011. See the Flying Heritage Collection website for more details about the Il-2 Shturmovik.
